Semi Private Training for Athletes
- Straight Speed Sessions -

For Athletes Ages 13 and Older

As the name implies, these sessions are for anyone looking to improve their speed when running in a straight line.  Among others, this might include soccer players looking to become faster when chasing down balls, football players hoping to improve their 40 yard dash, baseball players looking to better their 60 yard dash, or softball players trying to improve their speed from home-to-1B.

 

These 30 minutesemi-private sessions (of up to four athletes) are mainly performed on the back of Gottlieb's indoor track.  The track is long enough to be able to perform, time, and analyze up to 20 yard sprints.  Only "straight" sprint technique and training will be addressed in these sessions.  If you would like to include lateral speed, power, quickness, and agility training, these goals are all addressed in the Total Performance sessions.  Also, in addition to running form, a big component of speed is the ability to be able to apply large amounts of force (strength/power) into the ground.  This is also only addressed in the Total Performance Sessions.

Where Are the "Straight" Speed Sessions Held?

I currently conduct these sessions at the Gottlieb Center for Fitness in Melrose Park, Illinois.  The center itself is roughly 52,000 square feet.  The semi-private "Straight" Speed sessions are mainly held on the straight-away on the back of their indoor track.

The "Straight" Speed Session

Sessions will include the following components:

 

  • Dynamic Warm-up

    • Prime the brain and body for intense movement

 

  • Performance and Analysis of:

    • Athlete-Specific Starts

    • Short Distance Sprints (5, 10, 15, and/or 20 Yards)

 

  • On some occasions the following "Resistance" speed training tools may be utilized:

    • Parachute Sprints

    • Harness Pulls (with various equipment)

    • Non-motorized Treadmill Sprints

      *This is not a "Conditioning" or "Strength" training session.  Please consider supplementing with Total Performance sessions.

Cost

$45 per 30 minute session

$60 for two siblings attending the same session

$70 for three siblings attending the same session

*** If Also Performing a Total Performance Session in the Same Week ***

$15 per 30 minute session

and $5 for each additional sibling attending the same session

 

 

  • For athletes also actively attending Total Performance sessions... The Speed sessions are separate and are NOT included in the cost structure of the Total Performance sessions.

 

  • All athletes NEW to "Straight Speed" sessions, will be required to do one (1) Private, 30 minute session prior to joining the groups.  Contact me directly to set up that session.  I may be able to do this session during normal scheduled times (if no other athletes are expected on a particular day) or I'll work with you to find a time.

 

     The cost of this one session is $65... or $85 for siblings.

 

  • All athletes must keep a credit card on file with Gottlieb.  If you are not currently enrolled in Total Performance sessions, we will run your card and you will pay for your first session upfront.  After that, all cards will be charged once per month based on the costs incurred over the previous four to five weeks (depending on how the calendar lands).  The first Sunday of every month will be the start of a new billing cycle.

    It is your responsibility to update your card on file if it changes in the future.  All accounts delinquent by more than 15 days past the invoice date will be assessed a $25 late fee.

Flexible Scheduling

Obviously, I'll help provide recommendations, but basically you can come as often and whenever you want (see current session times below)!  The amount of athletes at any given time will depend on who wants to come when.   Max capacity per session is four (4) athletes. Although most sessions don't reach capacity, there are certain time slots that are more popular than others.  This is especially true in the summer or when a small group of friends are wanting to work out together.

Athletes may schedule exact sessions about a week in advance, or anytime up until the start of the session.  Specifically, I start taking reservations at 8:00 am on Sundays for the following week.  As an example, if hoping to do sessions during the week of Sunday, June 8th - Saturday June 13th... you may register as early as 8:00 am on Sunday, May 31st.  To be official, registration must be in the form of either a text (630-363-6003) or an email (thurman@thurmanhendrix.com).  These methods will allow me to track the exact time in which you registered.  Sessions are limited to four (4) athletes and are first-come, first-serve.  I will then get back to you and either confirm or deny as soon as I possibly can.

After scheduling, you may alter your reservations if need be (assuming the session you want to change to still has openings).  Obviously, try to let me know sooner than later.  
Although not ideal, it may also be acceptable if your schedule opens up and you'd like to come to a session scheduled within the next hour!  Just contact me as soon as you can and I'll let you know if that's possible.  On the other hand, if you need to cancel, please be aware of the CANCELLATION POLICY (described below) as it pertains to Straight Speed Sessions.

  • Contact and introduce yourself to me (ideally via email).

 

  • Complete and return the following FORMS.

    Forms can be returned either at your first session or beforehand via email (thurman@thurmanhendrix.com), or fax (866-864-8241). Note that returning the forms beforehand should speed up the sign-up process when arriving for your first session.

Cancellation Policy

After committing and being confirmed into a specific day/time slot(s):

 

  • Cancellation/No Show Policy for You:  To allow time for me to try to fill your slot, you must cancel by 10 PM of the night prior to the session.  You may do so by sending me either an email (thurman@thurmanhendrix.com), voicemail, or text (630-363-6003).  If you do not leave me a message by 10 PM of the night prior to the session, you will be charged $15 (+ $5 for each additional sibling).

 

  • Cancellation Policy for Me:  I must cancel by 10 PM of the night prior to the session (email, voicemail, or text).  If I do not leave you a message by 10 PM of the night prior to the session your account will be credited $25 per family.
