For
a position player in baseball looking to get to the next level, the 60
Yard Dash is what gets you in the door. Scouts will usually look
at your 60 time before anything else and if is not where it needs to be
for your position they won’t even look at what else you can do. A
great 60 time can mean instant scholarships and higher signing bonuses.
This clinic is appropriate for baseball players that are high school sophomores and older.
What does the clinic consist of?
A 2-hour teaching/training session covering the following:
- Teaching of proper warm-up exercises for improving a 60
- Discussion on how to “beat” a 60 yard dash, including:
- Proper start technique (learn why three-tenths is possible before even taking a step)!
- Proper running mechanics
- Benefits of Resistance & Assistance sprint training
- Learn why a strong and stabile core is crucial to sprinting (and how to achieve it)
- Learn how to establish good mental habits, specifically:
- Learn how to incorporate visualization as a practice tool
- Learn the proper mindset in order to react quicker
- Discover how to improve your flexibility to improve speed
- Practice of the techniques learned above
- Bonus: Receive a program for improving your 60 time. Program will consist of:
- Flexibility
- Core exercises
- Strength training
- Plyometric/explosive drills
- Sprints (including resisted and assisted sprints)
- Sprint conditioning drills
- For
an additional $50 athletes have the option of having their start
technique and running form video analyzed by Thurman. This will
be recorded prior to the session and the analysis will later be
delivered on a CD as a windows media file with comments by Thurman.
Note: Athletes may or may not be timed performing a full 60 yard dash due to the location of the session.
Former athletes:
- Improved a college sophomore from a 7.25 to a 6.75. Drafted after his senior season.
- One of his clients ran a 6.5 at an invite only showcase...only one other person ran a sub 7.0
- One of his clients improved four tenths in one day of work after learning better start mechanics.
Cost:
- $50 per athlete for the clinic only
